Bush Calls Democratic Leadership in Congress 'Irresponsible' for Doing What They Were Elected To Do

Bush : How Dare They Do What They Were Elected to Do?

President Bush says it is "irresponsible" for the Democratic leadership in Congress to follow the will of the people. Speaking to an audience of veterans at an American Legion post in northern Virginia, Mr. Bush said he has invited congressional leaders from both parties to meet with him at Andrews Air Force Base, where they will be "rendered" to an undisclosed location next week.

He again called on Congress to send him a supplemental war spending bill without timetables for withdrawing U.S. troops or anything else the American people demanded in the November 2006 midterm elections.

Both the House and the Senate have passed versions of a bill funding military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, but including a timetable for bringing U.S. combat troops home from Iraq. Mr. Bush has vowed to "do what's right for America, in spite of the wishes of the majority of Americans," and veto any such bill.

The president says U.S. forces may soon feel the effects of the funding shortage. But an independent government report last month said the Army has enough money to fund its military operations in Iraq through July. An unidentified source close to top White House officials remarked, "That's what THEY think."

Earlier Tuesday, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland said he is worried that National Guard troops who have been told to prepare to deploy to Iraq will not have proper training and equipment. In an interview with National Public Radio, the Democratic governor said he believes the men and women of the National Guard are going to pay the price for the Bush administration's failure to adequately plan and predict. The President said, "Shut up."

They are opening up the military to people with criminal records, that wouldn't be allowed before. Funny how they won't get rid of Don't ask, Don't Tell.

Dr. Fallon,

As a member of the reality-denial community and a professional propagandist and indoctrinator, you left typically tolerant and intellectual comments at Songun Blog.

The work of yourself, your peers, and your student progeny in reporting in Barack Obama's past and connections with Tony Rezko, Billy Ayers ("kill 25,000,000 Americans"), Rev 'em up racist Wright, "Friend of Angelo," the Obama-community-organized areas of Chicago whose body count for this year surpasses that of Americans fighting in Iraq--peerless. How you managed not to airbrush Obama himself from his own past is beyond me.

We are both glad to see Bush gone, but I do not rejoice in a man who has promised to bankrupt the coal industry, who comes to the Presidency as a nearly complete unknown (well he has lots of "Present" votes), and who threatens to build a civilian force to equal the US military. For what? To enforce the freedom to march to the same drum and thought?

I used to read the English version of "Pravda" when I was a college student. You guys are funny in your shared earnesty.

Well, Comrade Tovarich--

I am chastened and humbled by your insightful criticisms.

As a reader of the long-defunct, and far from clever "Songun Blog," you must know what you're talking about. I don't know what I could have been thinking when I failed to take that particular bad joke seriously. I humbly beg your apologies.

Thank you for putting me right about the terrorists, racists, and Chicago politicians (which of those is the worst?) who passed in and out of Barack Obama's life over the years. I'm sure you would consider Jesus a "terrorist" too for upsetting the tables on those poor money changers in the temple courtyard. I'll promise to reconsider my relationship with this so-called "savior" who seems to be so averse to unregulated capitalism.

I also promise, like you, to try to see the world in terms of cliches and stereotypes, and to listen more carefully to the rumors and innuendos that float about on the radio airwaves, newspaper columns and websites of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Michael Savage, and Hugh Hewitt. I nearly forgot that what a candidate (now President-elect) says is not as important as what you might be able to make people BELIEVE he said.

I beg you to forgive me for one small criticism of my own. I seriously doubt, on the basis of your remarks, that as a college student (if indeed you ever attended one) you ever read anything, let alone the English version of Pravda.

Oh, and as far as I am aware, there is no such word as "earnesty." I think that might be "earnestness."

Do yourself (and the rest of the Universe) a favor -- get over yourself.

Have a nice day!
